The Trek FX Sport SL 4 is a carbon fibre flat bar fitness bike designed for riders who want the acceleration and lightness of a road-oriented build without committing to a drop handlebar riding position. The frame is constructed from 400 Series OCLV Carbon a construction that Trek describes as delivering an exhilarating sense of acceleration and confident handling through its specific areal weight range and modulus combination. This is carbon performance made accessible without stepping up to the price point of Trek's highest-grade OCLV tiers.
The geometry has been updated in the new FX Sport platform with slightly less reach and slightly more stack than previous models. In practical terms this means a riding position that is a touch more upright and slightly less stretched out an active and fast position that retains performance intent while being more sustainable over longer rides and varied daily use. The flat handlebar keeps handling intuitive and familiar for riders coming from a hybrid or fitness background who are stepping up to a carbon performance platform.
The bike comes with pedals included. Trek recommends considering a flat pedal upgrade as pedals are one of five contact points between the rider and the bike, and the right pedal choice can improve grip and control for your specific riding style.
The FX Sport SL 4 uses a Shimano CUES drivetrain with LINKGLIDE technology on a 1x configuration, a single front chainring paired with a wide-range rear cassette and a single shift lever. LINKGLIDE is engineered specifically for drivetrain longevity, delivering significantly extended life on wear components including the chain, cassette, and chainrings compared to standard drivetrains. This durability focus means the drivetrain performs consistently over a longer service life before components need replacing, a practical advantage for riders who cover high mileage or use the bike regularly.
The 1x setup itself removes the front derailleur entirely, simplifying the shifting experience to a single lever that controls the rear cassette. Gear changes are smooth and decisive, and the wide cassette range covers everything from sustained climbs to flat-out fast riding on open roads. There are no front shifts to manage, no cross-chaining to avoid, and no front derailleur to adjust the drivetrain does more with less mechanical complexity. Shimano CUES is designed to span both electric and standard bikes, representing a platform built for long-term versatility and compatibility.
The all-new FX Sport has slightly less reach and slightly more stack than previous models for a more comfortable yet active and fast riding position.

Ultra high performance, within reach. The areal weight range and modulus mix of 400 Series OCLV provides an exhilarating sense of acceleration and confident handling.

The FX Sport SL 4 is built for more than solo training sessions. Its carbon frame and 1x drivetrain configuration give it the performance credentials to hold pace on faster group road rides, where flat handlebar bikes increasingly participate alongside drop bar road bikes. The light carbon construction and efficient drivetrain mean you are not giving away unnecessary weight or mechanical drag when the pace lifts.
The bike is also designed with utility in mind. It is compatible with fenders, lights, and additional accessories practical additions for commuting use or for extending the bike's functionality across different conditions and seasons. These accessories are sold separately and are not included with the bike as standard.
Inspired by rider demand for trouble-free drivetrain longevity and performance, Shimano CUES offers a new foundation for versatility and durability across a range of both electric and standard bikes. CUES features Shimano’s new LINKGLIDE drivetrain technology for significantly increased life on wear items like chain, cassette, and chainrings.

LINKGLIDE technology has been specifically engineered for incredible durability while still delivering smooth and decisive shifting – along with a great pedalling experience. Available exclusively on Shimano CUES drivetrains.

Pedals are two of the five touchpoints that connect you with your bike, and even though this bike comes with a pair, upgrading to pedals that boost control and grip will greatly improve your ride. See the pedal guide and find the best pedals for your riding style. We recommend flat pedals for simple versatility.
