OCLV Mountain Carbon Frame with Three Build Configurations

The Trek Fuel EX Carbon Frameset G7 is a full-suspension mountain bike frameset built from OCLV Mountain Carbon for riders who want to define their own trail bike rather than accept a pre-configured build. The frame is offered in three distinct configurations EX, MX, and LX each suited to a different riding style and suspension setup, and the frameset's design accommodates all three without compromise.

The EX configuration pairs the frame with a classic 145mm or 150mm suspension setup and 29-inch wheels for a do-it-all trail riding capability. The MX configuration uses 150mm or 160mm travel with mixed-wheel sizing to prioritise playfulness and agility. The LX configuration runs 160mm or 170mm travel on 29-inch wheels for riders who want the most aggressive, high-speed capability the platform can deliver. The choice between these three approaches is the rider's to make the frame's architecture supports all of them.

The frame features a new design with significantly more room for long dropper posts, larger shocks, and frame bags compared to previous generations practical clearances that matter when you are speccing the build yourself and want maximum component flexibility.

Adjustable Leverage Rate, Active Braking Pivot, and ZS Headset

Three key engineering features distinguish the Fuel EX Carbon G7 frameset from a standard full-suspension platform. The first is an adjustable leverage rate via a flip chip in the lower shock mount. Flipping this chip shifts the suspension's leverage rate to a more progressive curve, increasing bottom-out resistance without sacrificing sensitivity to smaller trail hits, a meaningful tuning adjustment for riders who want to fine-tune how the suspension behaves at end stroke without changing the shock itself.

The second is Active Braking Pivot, a suspension design approach that allows Trek's engineers to tune how the suspension responds to acceleration and braking forces independently of each other. The practical result is more predictable, confident control under braking on descents, a situation where many suspension designs compromise between braking performance and suspension sensitivity.

The third is a Zero Stack integrated headset standard, which opens the door to a wide range of aftermarket headset options including angle-adjust units for geometry adjustment and anodized colour options for personalisation. This compatibility with aftermarket components reflects the frameset's broader design philosophy of maximum adjustability.

With a ZS standard headset, you've got tons of options for aftermarket upgrades, including angle adjust or anodized colors.

In-Frame Storage, Top Tube Mounts, and Build Flexibility

Practical trail riding increasingly demands carrying capacity, and the Fuel EX Carbon G7 addresses this through in-frame storage included on all Fuel models both carbon and alloy versions. This allows you to stash tools, tubes, and ride essentials inside the frame without requiring an external bag attached to the frame triangle. Top tube accessory mounts add further capacity for those who want to carry additional items on longer rides.

The combination of in-frame storage and top tube mounts means the frameset is usable for everything from short technical trail sessions to longer adventure rides where carrying more is necessary. The new frame design's increased clearances for frame bags extend this further for riders who want to use triangle bags for bikepacking-style load carrying on a full-suspension platform.

This frameset is sold without a complete build. Components including the fork, shock, wheels, drivetrain, cockpit, and dropper post are not included and must be sourced separately as part of the custom build process.

Fresh frame design

Fuel's new frame gives you tons of room for long dropper posts, bigger shocks, frame bags, and more.

Active Braking Pivot

Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.

FAQs

What build configurations is the Fuel EX Carbon G7 frameset compatible with?

The frame supports three configurations: EX (145mm or 150mm travel, 29-inch wheels), MX (150mm or 160mm travel, mixed wheel sizes), and LX (160mm or 170mm travel, 29-inch wheels). Each configuration suits a different riding style and approach.

What does the adjustable leverage rate chip do?

Flipping the chip in the lower shock mount changes the suspension's leverage rate to a more progressive curve. This increases bottom-out resistance while preserving sensitivity to smaller trail hits, allowing you to tune the suspension feel without changing the shock.

What is Active Braking Pivot?

Active Braking Pivot is a suspension design feature that allows Trek's engineers to tune the suspension's response to acceleration and braking forces independently. This results in more predictable and confident control under braking on descents.

What headset standard does the Fuel EX Carbon G7 use?

The frame uses a Zero Stack integrated headset standard, which is compatible with a wide range of aftermarket headset options including angle-adjust units for geometry tuning and anodized colour options.

Does the frameset include in-frame storage?

Yes. In-frame storage is included on all Fuel models including this carbon frameset. Top tube accessory mounts are also included for carrying additional items.

Are components such as the fork, shock, and wheels included?

No. This is a frameset only. The fork, rear shock, wheels, drivetrain, cockpit, dropper post, and all other components must be sourced and purchased separately.

What colour is this frameset?

This version is finished in Gloss Dark Carmine and Matte Trek Black.
