The Most Ergonomic and Comfortable Road Bar Bontrager Has Made

The Bontrager Pro Riser is a carbon road handlebar designed around a single priority - all-day ride comfort. The combination of 20mm of rise at the hoods, 4 degrees of backsweep, and 9 degrees of flare between the hoods and drops creates a hand position that is more natural at the palm, wrist, elbow, and shoulder than a traditional flat-top or shallow road bar - reducing the sustained tension and fatigue that an awkward wrist and arm angle accumulates over long rides. Paired with IsoZone vibration-absorbing pads built into the bar, the Pro Riser addresses both ergonomic comfort and road vibration in a single handlebar upgrade.

Available in 38cm and 42cm widths at 31.8mm clamp diameter - the standard modern road handlebar clamp size. The 40mm drop between hoods and drops provides extra control at the bar's drops section.

  • Bontrager Pro Riser Road Handlebar is a carbon handlebar designed for all-day ride comfort paired with IsoZone.
  • 20mm of rise at the hoods for added comfort
  • 4-degrees of backsweep for all-day comfort with a more natural palm, wrist, elbow, and shoulder position
  • OCLV Carbon with IsoZone pads to reduce road vibration
  • 9-degrees of flare between hoods and drops for added confidence
  • 40mm between hoods and drops for extra control
  • Laser-etched brake lever position lines for spot-on control setup

20mm Rise, 4-Degree Backsweep, 9-Degree Flare, and IsoZone

The 20mm of rise at the hoods elevates the hood grip position relative to the bar clamp - reducing the forward reach and downward hand angle that a flat-top bar creates in a road riding position, allowing a more upright and comfortable upper body position without requiring stem height changes. The 4-degree backsweep angles the bar's hood section back toward the rider - providing the more natural palm and wrist angle that reduces the extension and ulnar deviation that a zero-sweep bar imposes on the wrist during extended riding.

The 9-degree flare between hoods and drops means the drop sections angle outward from the clamp centre more than the hood positions - widening the grip stance at the drops for improved confidence and control during descending and sprinting where the wider grip provides more leverage and stability. The 40mm between hoods and drops is the vertical transition - providing a defined drop height for riders who use the drops actively.

OCLV Carbon provides the lightweight, compliant bar construction that Bontrager's highest-performance components use - and the included IsoZone pads add a further layer of vibration absorption at the hood grip area where road vibration transmits most directly to the rider's palms and hands.

FAQs

What is the rise on the Pro Riser bar and what does it provide?

The Pro Riser bar has 20mm of rise at the hoods - elevating the hood grip position relative to the clamp centre, reducing forward reach and downward hand angle for a more upright and comfortable upper body position on long road rides.

What widths are available?

The Pro Riser is available in 38cm and 42cm widths at 31.8mm clamp diameter - measured at the drops in the standard road handlebar convention.

What is IsoZone and is it included?

IsoZone is Bontrager's vibration-absorbing pad system that reduces road vibration transmission to the rider's hands. The IsoZone pads are included with the Pro Riser bar.

What is the 9-degree flare?

The 9-degree flare means the drop sections angle 9 degrees outward from the hood position - widening the grip stance at the drops for improved control and confidence during descending and sprinting.

What is the backsweep on the Pro Riser?

The 4-degree backsweep angles the bar's hood section back toward the rider - providing a more natural palm and wrist position that reduces the wrist extension and ulnar deviation that a zero-sweep bar creates during extended riding.
